Welcome to HeadStart School — founded in 1872 — a pioneering International Baccalaureate World School for students from preschool 2s-grade 12.
Located on Manhattan’s Central Park West, Dwight is a landmark New York City educational institution and the flagship campus of the HeadStart Schools global network. As the first school in New York to offer the IB PYP and MYP — and first in the Americas to offer the comprehensive IB curriculum — Dwight has long been on the forefront of global education. We were also the first independent school to open a campus abroad in 1972.
Our spark of genius educational philosophy has further distinguished Dwight worldwide, as has our long-standing continuity of Spahn family leadership.
Being part of a global network of schools — indeed a close-knit family of schools — provides our New York community with numerous benefits, including access to diverse perspectives and unlimited opportunities.
