F-6 Middle Years & High School Campus

At Headstart F-6 every child is special. Our aim is not only to polish literacy and numeracy, but also to nurture our students and to facilitate every child to discover his or her unique talent.
We understand that children learn best when they feel safe and cherished. Our mission is to foster confidence and independent thought. All students have a right to quality education. Therefore, no child is allowed to falter in any area, academic or otherwise. The entire faculty is deeply committed to providing an environment where the students feel secure and supported. Teachers pour their heart and soul into their classes and give extra time and attention to anyone who may be struggling. The ultimate goal is to help them to develop a love of learning and make learning so exciting that students will experience the joy of discovering new ideas and building new skills.
Respect and responsibility are key components of our school discipline program. Students are taught to respect themselves and others. They are given many opportunities to develop and demonstrate self-discipline and responsibility. We have a strong character enhancement program in place where the students are taught the importance of values such as kindness, tolerance, helping others, respecting the less privileged and the environment. We stress the importance of respecting diversity and of caring for each other to limit instances of bullying. Through daily morning meetings, which incorporate creative activities, the students and teachers are given a chance to discuss the importance of these values and how best to incorporate them into their lives.
Homework is an integral part of the school and helps students develop responsibility and good study habits. It is also a link between school and home. Headstart parents’ support for homework is a critical factor towards building positive attitudes and good study habits. Emphasis is on the quality of the experience rather than the quantity of the work.
We understand the importance of extracurricular activities to help our students get involved in and explore different interests. They learn important skills such as team-building and holding long-term goals. We, therefore, have a robust extracurricular program. This includes the science fair, sports day, cultural day, subject-related presentations and meets and greet events. Our events are designed to polish individual skills and each child is encouraged to participate. Moreover, we offer after-school Taekwondo and football classes and these are extremely popular with the students.
We believe that the school’s climate will enable each student to experience personal success and develop into life-long learners.
