In keeping with Headstart tradition of striving for excellence and fostering the spirit of learning Headstart has initiated the Junior Math Meet this year… A year which marks a milestone in its history as they celebrate 25 years of excellence!
Headstart Junior Math Meet 2016 was held on Thursday, 14
th April at the flagship campus in Kuri. There were teams from seven Headstart School branches competing in Level 1 (grades 3, 4) and Level 2 (grades 4, 5).
Chief Executive of Headstart School, Mrs. Naznin Murtaza, addressed all the eager participants before they set out for the first round.
Math Run had students exploring the beautiful garden of the campus, the assembly area and also the cafeteria. Teams were given multiple choice questions with answers corresponding to specific locations on campus. Each team was to pick up the next question from the location based on their answer on the current question
Paper Problem gave the team members the freedom to choose any comfortable spot on campus where they sat and consulted with each other before solving the problems and jotting down the final answer.
The
Mind Crackers round was held at the auditorium where the different teams were given two puzzles each to solve.

The outcome of the three rounds determined the semifinalists. The three teams answered questions resulting in two teams qualifying for the final round. The atmosphere was tense yet exhilarating and despite the chilled auditorium the participants were seen to be wiping perspiration off their face!
Students were heard remarking that it was “very exciting to be running around the garden” getting the questions where the answer lead them to the next location.
Through such activities, Headstart aims to cater to different learning styles and stimulate the young minds so that learning becomes an enjoyable experience.
